We headed out for a late afternoon ski on Telephone loop. Left at 3:50pm, back at 6:30pm(yes one of the last cars in the parking lot). Enjoyed seeing a few stars and the bright moon as we finished. So thankful we did the loop CCW! Hostel loop conditions were slick and delightful. Beautiful track sets still, with no ruts or boot prints. Telephone was another story-bike ruts, heavy foot traffic, and icy in sections made the loop very challenging. Rocks and tree roots started to be exposed in the lower sections of the first part of Telephone loop. Glad we did not run into another soul on the route. The back side of the loop was much better as both fat bike tire ruts and foot traffic was significantly less. It was a dream to ski the back snow pockets. Between the winter wonderland snow pockets and evening lighting the trip was still worth it and made a memorable adventure. However, we are experienced skiers and we were counting our blessings as we got through the loop with no injuries! I would not recommend ski travel on Telephone until we get more snow.

Heavily travelled trails - during the first half of the loop. The nice roller packed trail from a few days ago is long gone!

Evening light - and the moon high in the ski

The better trails on the back side of the loop.

Sections of more enjoyable skiing.
