Discussion:

Goat Creek surprised us today. Dry, cold snow and good skier track. The first 2km from the Canmore trailhead had lots of bootprints, but then it improves alot. The big downhill to Goat Creek bridge has packed snow and no ice. We took our light touring skis, but track skis would have been fine. Only met 2 other groups of skiers, a fat biker and 2 walkers. Stopped for a snack at the bus shelter and decided to continue on the Spray East trail. A bit rough in places and not much of a track. Walked down the Old Quarry hiking trail and crossed the bridge to connect with the Spray West Trail. Spray West had a very shallow track and was hard packed by many boot prints. Temperature stayed reasonably cool in the shade. After a pizza and brownie lunch we were ready to tackle the climb back up to Goat Creek trailhead. Rode Multigrade Purple worked fairly well. Another fantastic ski day with sunshine and blue sky!!
