Discussion:

We skied the Cascade trail almost to the bridge this morning/early afternoon, and were pleasantly surprised. There is plenty of snow still, but the grooming is well worn and tracks a bit wonky. Conditions are not great, crunchy in the morning and soft in the afternoon, but better beyond the big hill.
There were not many other skiers on the trail. More came in the afternoon, and some skate-skiers seemed to be having a good time.

Descending the big hill was a bit of the fast-slow spring skiing experience, but not that bad, and generally slower than I expected. The snow is still clean, and snowplowing skiers have left it quite smooth in the middle.

If you have low expectations, and are prepared, it is still pretty good skiing :-)
