The ticket I got for supposedly not having a pass last fall has been CANCELLED!

Through the online alberta ticket portal, you can dispute/refute a ticket with reasons and have it reviewed by a provincial prosecutor, before pleading not-guilty and doing same by going to court.

I argued that the ministerial order clearly indicates that annual passes expire at 11:59PM on the same day of the following year and an inability of administration to follow this directive is a technical error and does not supersede the order or constitute wrong doing on my part. The ticket was issued in error and should be cancelled.

Upon providing proof of my purchase date (no attachments available through the online portal), the ticket was summarily jettisoned.

Will tickets keep getting given out in error for annual pass expiry dates? Probably. I had suggested to the prosecutor that Parks should be informed of their legal error and consider corrective action to comply with the order, or go to a warning system when within a week or so of a recently expired annual pass. Also unlikely.
