Discussion:

Backdoor to Pocaterra to the Tyrwhitt picnic table and back (beginning at about 10am and -6°, and all 6 parking lot spots full after we arrived).

Do you know those skis when you can glide along, trusting the tracks, and let your thoughts drift a bit (maybe even resulting in a trip report poem being composed in the peaceful moment)?

This wasn’t that. 🤣

I couldn’t take my focus off of my four limbs long enough to put this interesting ski into words that rhyme, but I was able to come up with some haikus as I was dodging twigs, trying to cross streams without falling in, and just generally staying upright!

Poppa Jeff and I
did not feel graceful today.
But we sure had fun!

(I was on fishscales today, which turned out to be a good choice. PoppaJeff was on skins and they were a bit tougher on today’s snow.)

Pocaterra to
Lookout, snow and tracks not bad.
Snow gods, help us out!

(This was definitely the best section, snow-wise, despite a lot of footprints in the first km.)

Big climb to Tyrwhitt;
twigs every step of the way.
No wipe outs today!

(Miraculously.)

“Easy” signs along
the trail, mocking us as we
slipped and slid along.

(This was definitely not an easy ski!)

Few tracks to speak of;
glittery, sparkling Tyrwhitt
made it all worthwhile.

(The sun was shining brightly on Tyrwhitt Meadows today.)

Concentration key
to remaining on my feet
on both hills and flats.

(My closest calls were on flat sections where the tracks were slippery and undefined.)

What an adventure!
Only confident skiers
should come here today.

(And probably for the next few days until it snows enough for some good grooming!)
