Discussion:

Despite a stretch of 10 very warm days, the snow conditions at West Bragg Creek are holding up surprisingly well. Today I skied a loop that included East Crystal Line, Sundog, Loggers, West Crystal Line and a few Crystal Links, Mountain View and Moose Loop. All had good snow coverage and most of the core (Crystal-Loggers-Sundog) had recent grooming or track setting. Hostel Loop is also in great condition. As you might expect with ten melt-freeze cycles, the trails are icy in the morning... so I waited until almost noon to start out. Shaded areas were still icy, while sunny areas were soft. Everything softened up in the afternoon, but still good grip and glide with skin skis.
We have two more warm days and then winter is forecast to return for the rest of March, bringing 30-40cm of snow! It looks as if the snow base will still be intact and ready for an amazing season finale!
