When we saw that the stellar weather we've been enjoying was going to extend, we got ourselves over to Yoho and up Lake O'Hara Fire Road for an incredible day - not only was it a blue sky day, but there was no wind and . . . the snow was in surprisingly good shape. The temperatures were a tad on the cool side this morning (-13C in the shade), but once we hit the sun around the 2 km mark, we were smiling all the way to the lake!

A snowmobile had obviously made a run up and down - no track set or grooming otherwise. The snow consistency was good to excellent all the way, which made for fantastic grip going up, and hero descending all the way down.

We counted 21 people coming out of Lake O'Hara this a.m. while we went in, and probably an equal number going in when we were going down in the afternoon. Otherwise, it was a quiet, peaceful and lovely way to spend a fine day in February.

Total distance: 22.00 Km

Climbing into the sun and getting those great views starting at 5 km up Lake O'Hara Fire Road.

Lake O'Hara on a fine winter day

No wind, blue skies and moderate temperatures made Lake O'Hara the perfect outing today!
