Welcome Ingrid to the blog: stunning photos AND acknowledgment to the groomers who worked both N and S ends of the park last night. We enjoyed the Skier Bob Special, and were passed by the likes of Peter (no Kazzy in this park) and John at top of Whiskey Jack. Chose Hydroline to descend from Elk Pass and Fox remaining very good. Moraine was roller packed but definitely needs more snow. Temps were -6 to start and warmed to zero. Surprised to see so much fog while driving home. Movie making continues: evidence at Fortress Junction.
Can't wait to explore those meadows on Patterson and West Elk next time there.

Total distance: 17.00 Km

Groomers managed to remove those huge trees that fell across Tyrwhitt.

Janice enjoying her new waxable Asnes....how to pronounce?

Based on Ingrid’s photo, the old tracks through Patterson meadow and west elk pass to hydroline should be fine with some light to moderate trail breaking. The exception might be the large open meadow at the border of west elk which may be more blown in and difficult to spot.

I'm puzzled which area on the map in the Elk Pass environs is defined as "Patterson meadow"? I know there is a Patterson trail. Thanks for clarification.

Not a defined term or official geographic name. Just a name I have taken the liberty of giving to a route through an open meadow area between Patterson trail (grooming) to hydroline near elk pass. Still working on the elk pass ski touring guidebook which will make it more obvious. In the meantime it is visible on a satellite image or the track can be seen when it is freshly broken. It’s a nice aesthetic alternative to elk pass hill or hydroline hill and perhaps a tad more direct in terms of distance as well as giving different views and a quiet place to sit in the sun on a nice day.
