Thanks very much to gh for providing such a detailed report of his 34 Km West Bragg Creek trip yesterday. It was great motivation to bring me out today.
I enjoyed a cool temperature of -17 deg with NO wind (unless you count the downhills🥶) Green wax worked well, giving me good grip on the numerous uphills and a decent glide on the downhills. I saw 7 others today.
I skied West Crystal, Loggers, Elbow to Shagmore Trail, Iron Springs and back via Sundog East.
So nice to see Groomer Joe as he was tracksetting his second pass on Iron Springs! The east (return) side of Iron Springs is skier trackset: worked fine for me.
A little rough on the first part of West Crystal. Better tracks soon appeared.
21 cm of fluffy stuff was measured at the West Crystal - Mountain View picnic table.
Loggers Loop was good
New roller packing on Iron Springs
Fresh tracksetting courtesy of Groomer Joe
Here comes Joe. Many thanks!

Great to hear that the groomers have been out today! Unfortunately as of 10pm it isn't showing up on Nordic Pulse. Anyone know why?

I wonder if the WBC groomers lost their Nordic Pulse expert. I’d bet the PLPP guys would be happy to give them a tutorial.

Groomer Joe is from Parks

haywire, you are indeed wise in the ways of grooming.

SkierRoger - What sections of Iron Springs did you encounter grooming and/or tracksetting yesterday (Wednesday)? As of 1145am today (Thursday), Nordic Pulse is only showing the section between Iron Creek and the north intersection with Elbow as groomed, with nothing trackset. And it looks like that section was groomed by the Bragg Creek Trails (BCT) grooming crew just this morning, along with North Elbow. Perhaps the Parks grooming crew don't update Nordic Pulse? And which sections of Elbow and Iron Springs does Parks maintain vs. BCT? Or is there some overlap depending on who is in the vicinity first? Haywire, do you know?
I could offer some Nordic Pulse expertise, but it would help if I could figure out whether I should offer it to BCT or Parks.

Hey Mike. I recall seeing the sections marked in RED as newly groomed yesterday afternoon. But I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning, haha.

Mike W, when I ran the grooming Parks was responsible for south Elbow and the short southern Iron Springs trail, and telephone loop. Now that the grooming is run from the parking lot and not my house, my understanding is that BCT now does Telephone as well. So Parks mainly does south Iron Springs and South Elbow I believe

Does it make more sense for WBC to take over grooming for that small parks portion? Not sure if there needs to be a turn around point or what makes the most sense from an equipment standpoint. But it seems rather inefficient for parks to do that one small section with no other grooming nearby, other than maybe sandy mcnabb. Renegotiate roles and responsibilities at the same time as the “final” master plan getting sorted? Perhaps it’s an opportunity given shifts in funding etc. to bundle some things together and get it sorted.

Odd that the parks guys were able to get the grooming done but not the West Bragg Creek groomers, who are sure dropping the ball this year. The trails are usually done right after the snow falls, not days later. And is Telephone loop ever going to be trackset? It is an awesome trail when done.
