Discussion:

Thanks to the revenue generated from the Kananaskis Conservation Pass, Parks has been able to pay for additional daylight in PLPP. Sunset has been postponed from the usual 4:30pm to about 6:00 pm. See photo.

...And in other news, it appears the PLPP Visitor webcam is back up in operation.

The sun is still up at the PLPP Visitor Centre at 5:28PM!

Where the money from the UCP Kananaskis Country entrance tax fee is going is very dark.

Note that the elk pass cloud can be seen from that angle, sitting in between the lookout (just visible) and the elk range in B.C.

Changing the time of sunset sounds about as logical as most of our government's initiatives.

Hey GordF,

Re: your comment

Warning: This comment contains some comical political material in my bad comical opinion. If you don't like political material, go to another comment or turn your computer off now.

Is that as logical as the government initiative to bring so many people in the country that there is no good place left to make virgin ski turns or park in the parking lots?

According to the Chief Statistician of Canada in the 2023 Manion lecture at 18:50 minute mark roughly, he suggests in 26 years there will be 40 million more people in Canada at our current growth rate.

Our skiing infrastructure in Banff will be overrun if the government is accepting lots of skiing immigrants. Particularly considering how the trails are being overgrown and are getting narrower each year due to a lack of government initiative to maintain the trails.

The government can't expect thousands of more skiers to ski on trails that are getting more narrow each year due to overgrowth. We will have no room to plant ski poles without jamming someone's foot with the massive influx of people coming into the country. Health care costs might go through the roof when the ski poles start jamming people's eyes as well because the trails are so tightly packed with people.

We are going to need the head of a giant space snowman to fall off and form a giant snowball asteroid to reduce the population of the earth if people don't want massive food inflation due to massive over population growth. If we have net zero carbon emissions, we should have net zero population growth as well so our ski trails, hospitals and parks are not overrun in the future.

Either that or more skiers will have to enjoy the trails at night when the trails are less crowded. Solar skiing headlamps might be a good stock investment for the future.
