Discussion:

Hay Meadow had no track but snow was good, though our poles were useless, it was pretty thin and slipping on frozen ground.

Up Hidden to Skogan Pass trail was ok going up, but we avoided it on the way back, trying Skogan-Troll South Connector, a bit better.

We stopped at the loop junction. It was quiet and beautiful, but conditions weren't great. We probably added a dozen more scratches under our skis while going down. We saw more deer than human beings out there. We will definitely wait for more snow and groomed trails before going back.

Hi Chris - Sorry to hear that you hit a bunch of rocks on the way down. Where did you find them? The only section where I hit rocks was the short section where the Skogan Pass Trail is shared with the Nakiska snowcat track. It was fine going up, but by the time we came down the snowmobiles had kicked up a bunch of rocks.

There were also some rocks on the section below the snowcat track down to the junction with Hidden Trail, which is why I recommended staying in the up track and controlling speed by dragging poles.

But since you descended the Skogan-Troll South Connector instead, you would have bypassed all the sections we encountered that had rocks. So I'm curious where you found the rocks. Thanks!

Hey Mike,
The place you’re referring to was definitely the worst. Going up Hidden wasn’t great so we came back south connector, thin as well. We went over debris going down Skogan after the spot with the rocks. I was trying to get on the thicker tracks but still felt I was skiing over roots or rocks several times. Conditions higher up were fine.
