For those looking to enjoy some cross country skiing this weekend, below is a brief summary of trails recently groomed:
PLPP: Elk Pass, Hydroline, Patterson, Blueberry Hill, Wheeler (Dec 8 packed, trackset)
Banff area: Cascade Valley to Cascade River bridge, Upper Bankhead (trackset)
Lake Louise area: Moraine Lake Road; Bow River Loop; Campground loop (Dec 8 trackset), Great Divide (Dec 7 trackset)

We skied up to Elk Pass and back today. A pleasant surprise to see the truck and flatbed trailer in the parking lot this morning. We broke trail on Fox Creek in 15-20cm of light fluffy powder. The new trackset on the Elk Pass trail was great and made for a speedy trip. There's a bit of lingering ice here and there, but not a big problem. A huge group was returning from Elk Cabin and another big group was heading in, so it seemed busy for a Friday. It looked like the snowshoers were sticking to the snowshoe route, so that was good. The highway from Calgary was crowded and treacherous at 9am, and although the Kananaskis highway was snow-covered, there was a lot less ice.
