Snow on the Way

Discussion:

I read a Nov 30th Washington Post article last week entitled: “Long-duration storm to blast Pacific Northwest with flooding, snow”. The Pacific Northwest was supposed to receive the brunt of the storm, but some impact was projected for the Canadian Rockies too. Below is a snapshot from that article.

I never really gave it much thought since the forecast was for several days out and these things tend to change. But jump a few days ahead and it does look like some significant snowfall is coming to our area!

As of today, Spotwx.com has the following snowfall projections:

Roger - Thanks for compiling the temperature / snowfall chart. It's a great help!

Had a quick peek at the time lapse radar model supplied on the avalanche Canada site. Looks like the system might have a bit of an upslope sting in the foothills as it passes at the end, depending on temps/time of day.

Thanks for the link to the Av Canada mountain weather forecast, MaSid. I have used the SpotWx forecast for years but somehow had never clued in to the Av Canada forecast. It is the kind of info that one can't get from the Env Canada weather sites unless you pay for it, like Av Canada undoubtedly does.
