On the drive down Highway 40 we debated about starting from the “Back Door” or Elk Pass. We decided on Elk Pass. When we arrived, there was only one other vehicle in the parking lot… an Alberta Parks truck with an empty flatbed trailer. BONUS! The snowcat was already ahead of us, laying down corduroy on the Elk Pass trail!
We followed the grooming to the Hydroline junction, where it turned to go up that awful hill. We opted to stay on the Elk Pass trail, which was lovely with a 5cm layer of new snow.
At the Bluberry Hill junction, we were overjoyed to see fresh grooming the came down from Elk Pass and turned up to Blueberry Hill. As we were about to start up to Blueberry, Dylan in the PB100 came around the corner. So… fresh grooming all the way to within 100m of the Blueberry Hill viewpoint.

We enjoyed those excellent conditions all the way down to Fox Creek, where we opted to take the narrow trail instead. It was only snowmobile packed, with some new snow on top, but I love that trail!

Somehow, we missed running into SkierBob

Kudos to Dylan. He did an impressive job of setting a wonderful wide, flat, smooth base on those trails. It’s not trackset yet, but it has set the foundation for excellent grooming for the rest of the season. Well done!
