Moraine Lake Road and Great Divide Update

Thanks to an anonymous skier who wishes to post this report:
Moraine lake is gated and closed but apparently still subject to vehicle access requirements for business at the lake I expect, so there are compact vehicle tracks up the road centre with untracked/skier tracked snow on shoulders. Looks fine for classic self tracked skiing but expect pole tips to contact road surface without a solid base underneath. It appears that tramline hall has been trackpacked by skidoo. See photos.
1A/Great Divide from lake Louise drive end remains the same as per Alaric’s last report, except now the track packing is now quite firm and supportive, pole tips only reach pavement infrequently. Track packing is in three rows with the usual small windrows between, and some foot traffic damage in first km. Conditions are fine early season, willows on verge avoided easily but watch for all heaved culverts as the groomer will have dredge up minor gravel in places. See photos.
With minor amounts of consistent snow over next days, Parks WILL have enough snow to put in a track by or on the weekend at the 1A (be sure to ask them if they don’t…), and ask them to stop driving moraine road with trucks but rather with grooming equipment instead; with the elevation gain there, the skiing would already be very good with the snow already received.

We skied Great Divide from Lake Louise end today, and it was lovely! I would have described it as skier tracked in a few cm of fresh fluffies, but the skiers were probably following trackset? Also the fluffies got a bit sticky after a while.....
 The skating only lasted a few meters!
