Discussion:

The Pisten-Bully 130D groomed the first trail I ever skied at Ribbon Creek but it has been put out to pasture. After toiling for years on the Ribbon Creek trails, it spent it's waning years(since 2013) at Cypress Hills.

Darwyn, the groomer at Cypress Hills sent me a picture of the brand new PB100 which he has been using for the past month. They have the best snow conditions this winter since snowcat grooming began in Cypress Hills.

Darwyn remarked in his email, "There has definitely been some upgrades in technology from 1985!
Conditions are still good on the trails here if you don’t have any plans for Easter."

The Ribbon Creek snowcat was used in Cypress Hills since 2013. I took this photo on the Cypress Hills trails in 2019.

Woah, 38 years! That thing doesn't owe Danielle Smith any money.

We were there in Feb (2nd annual winter expedition to Tom Trott Hut). Snow and conditions were very good at that time and nice to hear that it only got better. We had two sleds for our supplies which we pulled on the 5K (flat) ski into the hut. The folks at the visitor centre were real nice and they even lent us another sled to divide up the load. Which was good as we had two 3L boxes of wine and one 4L (I mean, c'mon, there were 6 of us and we were there for 2 nights!)

PSA: wines in a box have improved immensely in recent years.

We made forays off of the groomed at times. This is Head of the Mountain veiwpoint from which you can see the Sweetgrass Hills way down in Montucky.
