PLPP - Today I skied the Cookie race course starting at Pocaterra hut and skied Pocaterra / Come Along / Lynx / Woolley / Meadow / Wheeler / Whiskey Jack / Tyrwhitt / Elk Pass / Fox Creek / Boulton Creek / Packers / Pocaterra
Very nice conditions with a few cm of silky snow on grooming, glide was fair but I had a lovely day.
Fox Creek and Boulton Creek were in excellent conditions and the highlight of today’s trip.
PS: At the top of Packers, snow was falling and it was like some tiny pellets and immediately ice starting to build up just behind the skins and I had to scrape the skis a few times. Is there a way to avoid skis icing up? (It was a first for me) — at Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
Total distance: 42.00 Km

When I was new to skins a few years ago, I had skin icing when on new snow that is sticky and close to the freezing point. Since then I have applied Swix Skin Care when I anticipate these conditions and have had no problem. It stinks like some type of solvent. I use a ski box so i can apply it at home and then wash my hands afterward and keep the skis outside of the vehicle. Otherwise I would apply it at the trailhead. Some have suggested a thin application of wax on the skins, but I have never tried that.
