Discussion:

With all the awesome tracksetting at PLPP this week, I had to take in a bigger tour than last week. Objective was to visit most of the trails I hadn't done this winter, along with one I'd never done, Spruce Road. The latter was apparently so good I did it twice, inadvertently!

Grooming was perfect on most trails; many thanks to the groomers! The exceptions were Meadow south of the Visitor Information Centre, Pocaterra north of Whiskey Jack, and Come Along. They were pretty good but a bit wobbly due to being skier trackset. Main catch and release zone was Pocaterra north of Lynx.

-6C when I left Pocaterra at 1045 and 0C when I returned at 1715. Sunny all day with a north breeze picking up late in the afternoon. Another great day at PLPP!

Route was N Lodgepole - Sinclair - Middle Lodgepole - S Braille - Spruce Road (2x!) - S Braille - S Lodgepole - S Meadow - Woolley - Amos - Wheeler - Boulton Creek - N Elk Pass - Upper Lake Connector - N Elk Pass - S Boulton Creek - Fox Creek - Elk Pass - Blueberry Hill - Patterson - S Hydroline - Tyrwhitt - N Lookout return - Pocaterra - S Come Along - Pocaterra.

Total distance: 54.00 Km

I’m thinking the Little Bees weren’t happy to be left home on a beautiful day in PLPP.

Yeah. Especially when he goes out on a sunny 57km romp with some long skinny foo foo skis!

KeithB - You're right, the Little B's were disappointed, but I promised them a great trip for tomorrow.

aqua toque and others: Apologies, the 57km was a typo; it was only 54km!

Well, maybe AT and I will see you in the hood tomorrow. Shouldn’t be too hard to spot each other, even from a distance.

MaSid - You and AT are welcome to join us. We'll be doing the traverse of the NE facing slopes of Mount Bell from Boom Lake trailhead to Taylor Lake trailhead. Meeting at 9am at the Taylor Lake trailhead to shuttle us/vehicle(s) to the Boom Lake trailhead. See my report last year (out-and-back version) at https://www.skierroger.ca/index.php?content=showski_basic&id=1059

Thanks for the invite Mike! But us old folk on AT gear will unlikely keep up with the little B’s. Need the soft/easy descents these days for our aching knees (AT is collecting a pension and all). P.S. you can go up the ridge a ways between obrien and Taylor for some interesting short open descent lines back to the Taylor side, with mellow options or a nice steep couloir (terrain trap). Lots of bumps for jumps with either route. We are likely to be chasing the fox again in PLPP. Regardless, have a good day, and we look forward to a conditions report.
