I do so love an early start and fresh track setting... Left the Elk Pass trailhead at 0715 and temp was about -18. The grooming on Elk is only a day old, and holding up well. There are some icy spots, primarily where snow bombs fell, but also coming down the south side of the first hill.

I've only done Lookout once, so since it was trackset last night I decided to give it another shot. Yes, it is as challenging a climb as I remembered...

As usual, tracks were great, no debris, and thanks to the cold temperature, quite hard. No problems with grip or control ascending or descending.

I've been on Tyrwhitt well over half a dozen times this year, but this is the first time it's been sunny. Trail is pristine and not icy.

Temp was -5 when I got back to the trailhead 4 hrs after starting.

Fresh tracksetting on Lookout South. Bliss...

Lovely corduroy on Lookout.

So this is what Tyrwhitt looks like in the sun...

The transition between new grooming and day old grooming at Elk Pass.

It sounds like while you were already well into the drive home, we were still waxing skis at Boulton. We did a short out and back on Whiskey Jack and Lookout North. Good climbing on wax using VR 45 in the early afternoon, and after lazing around for an hour at the top, the descent was easygoing fast fun, mostly on fairly dry snow other than a few short exposed hills that will be icy tomorrow morning. What an amazing day up there!
