Discussion:

We left Elkwood Parking in the morning with the temp at -7 degrees. We skied Wheeler, Packers half way up and return, Whiskey Jack to the top and return, 2 km south on Moraine, and then directly back to the Elkwood Parking lot. Conditions were very good. Sorry, no pictures. Just imagine smooth solid grooming with well defined trackset covered with 3 to 5 cm of soft snow, finished off with tidy skier set tracks. We had better luck than Mary, Ray and Anne did yesterday. We were able to climb directly up Packers and Whiskey Jack and then glide down on smooth, controllable snow; even down the steep S curves on Whiskey Jack. Not a needle, snow bomb, or other debris was encountered on the whole trip.

We met dozens of skiers today and would like to thank the two that warned us about the "attack grouse" on Wheeler about 0.5 km north of the Packers junction. The grouse was guarding the southbound lane but did let us proceed on the northward lane without incident.

It was -5 and snowing lightly when we left at 2:00 so conditions should also be good on the weekend as well, even if there is no trackset/grooming refresh.
