Cascade incredible once again

Sam and I thought carefully where to ski today and decided to gamble on Cascade. The rationale was that with the 15 or so cm of fresh snow that fell yesterday (in Canmore), Parks Canada was bound to groom CFR for the weekend. SCORE! We showed up around 11 am at -6 C and sure enough, we saw the groomer finishing up. The tracks were perfect and as the day slowly heated up, the tracks got faster and faster. Even some of the uphill sections on the return felt like effortless gliding. The tracks beyond the bridge were skier-set only, however they were also fantastic. The very strong sun softened up the tracks significantly as the day wore on, and by the time we were climbing the final ascent to the parking lot, the tracks were slushy. That lower section might be pretty hard and fast tomorrow morning, but all the other sections will likely be ok. That being said, the descent down the big hill at the end was very hard and screaming fast in parts, but otherwise manageable. We were both on fish scales today and they performed perfectly. Plus 3 C when we finished. I think Sam and I hit the jackpot today!
