Yes Mike. Next fix: the deteriorating threads at the toe bend where heavy waterproof sole material meets upper flexible cloth. Probably just shoe gue, slathered well.

SteveR - Thanks for the repair advice. Looks like MaSid and I have the same model of defective Rossignol boot.

It’s clearly all about timing in spring.

Just following up on one part of your tour… Hostel Loop was groomed last this afternoon.

Good to hear that my repair advice is working out! Polyethylene is about the only material that it doesn’t bond to.

Discussion:

-11 this morning about 9. West crystal and moose connector out to moose. The east facing hill on moose connector is starting to show signs of the underlying ice on the upper section. A handy trail crossed the moose meadow towards middle Tom Snow’s so off I went. Lots of travel along Tom Snow (and a snowmobile track on portions) made for a good skier set track and mostly powdery still with some lightly refrozen areas, depending on aspect. Over to mountain rd and south meadow, which was still cold snow between 11 & 1130. Back on mountainview, west crystal, loggers, east crystal. The “krunckle” appearing at 1215 on loggers in sunny spots. Both loggers and east crystal were a joy to zoom along without any unintentional speed change issues. Nice chatting with Ernie at the trailhead for a bit, discussing how it was one of those days to just do more! So dumped some gear at the car, more water, and off to hostel loop (CCW). Ungroomed and reasonable ski set track. More krunkle in the sun, some minor icing, but no need to scrape. The west descent was cooking in the sun, so sat for a bit and let the shade swing around. Still caution required given the chopped up tracks (not much snow plow options) but less sudden decelerations having waited a bit. An excellent day out, especially combining the moose meadow, middle Tom Snows and south meadow to mountainview for easy off trail action.

Have track, will travel (across meadows).

Tom Snow looking a bit like fox creek after a dump, but a bit more room tree to tree.

Heading towards mountainview through south meadow. No sign of others, just a coyote. A bit of refrozen snow in the track.

But fine now. Nicely packed and fast. And the PL Premium (which can be seen) is still holding up. 👍
