He is a link to WBC Trails Master Plan. Details of proposed new trails and refinements to existing ones are shown in Appendix A on page 64.

Both the Horseshoe Ridge Loop, connecting to a re-aligned Tom Snow (moved off of Mountain Road) and a connection to the summer alignment of Mountain View West have been approved in the new WBC Trails Master Plan. The construction depends of getting sufficient donations and grant funding.

I look forward to the approval of this new multi-use trail and its eventual construction. Departing from Tom Snow, up along the ridge and connecting to Mountainview West, or just a loop back to Tom Snow?

Discussion:

As MaSid has noted in previous reports, the off-trail travel conditions at West Bragg Creek are currently very good. We started out by following the nice grooming on Mountain Road, but soon turned off for soft & easy touring on West Meadow trail to Tom Snow... then across country to Horseshoe Ridge. Horseshoe Ridge is a proposed multi-user trail in the new West Bragg Creek Trails Master Plan. The horseshoe shaped ridge wraps around a north-east facing bowl, that is perfect for a few runs. Next we went over Horseshoe Ridge and crossed Mountain View West ski trail to access a series of 2014 era cut-blocks along a side ridge of Moose Mountain. After several runs there, we returned to Horseshoe Ridge for a north-facing run, and then a descent to Tom Snow-West Meadow and Mountain Road.

A quiet tour on West Meadow trail, on our way to Tom Snow trail.

Skiing on one of the cut blocks along a side ridge of Moose Mountain.

Powder skiing at West Bragg Creek!

Touring up to Horseshoe Ridge.
