My elevation gain showed 760m, and it is supposed to be something like 680, so I calculated to slip back 80 metres. Not too bad for a 18 km trek. Thanks, Helen, great day.

Congrats on an awesome trek and most importantly for getting a new grandchild!

I sure do remember that ornament. You and Diane were kind enough to give me one (PLPP I think) on the day my grandson, René was born.

You must have posted your report just as I was doing mine. Congrats on the new family member! Thanks for the warning about the table, no tea was spilt. No summit picture for us, as a snow squall was moving though and we had no view.

Took advantage of early morning grooming on Skogan Pass (as suggested in comment to Mike W)

Participants:

Dana, Fran and me (clutching my phone to hear news of new baby grandson)

Discussion:

Got to Nakisha parking around 11 and went the usual way (beside Bronze Chair and Terrain Park). We were the second group of three to start the big climb, and by the time we got to first junction c Hummingbird, I got the call!! Healthy Baby boy born!

Had to hang an ornament in Baby's honour (am sure Skier Roger will recognize it!)

Snow was pretty sweet although a snowmobile/groomer track somewhat made for a more challenging decent. None of us had skied Skogan this year so it was a "senior" effort. Patrick (owner of Trail Sports) passed us heading up under the Powerline part.

Fran made it to the summit first and enjoyed chatting with Patrick, as she is a dedicated Snow Host at CNC..

Dana's skin skis have lost some of their skin (almost bald) so we arrived a tiny bit later.

Thanks Fran for taking all these photos. Was kind of glad sun did now come out.

Shared a few shortbread cookies over lunch: picnic table a bit like a see saw. Lost my tea when Dana stood up.

Holding my "no long heated" mitts, as if cradling the newborn atop Skogan.

Have done very little skiing this past month, and my thighs were screaming long before we got to The Screamer. Had to keep stopping, even though conditions were very good, and despite the softer snow creating skinny ski tracks.

A momentous day we will not soon forget. Thank you Dana and Fran for sharing this special day with me.

-7 to start and -4 to finish.
