Awesome day trip to Shadow Lake, we knew the conditions were good after reading yesterday's FB post but it was better than expected.
The trail was covered by 2-3cm of fresh snow and the sleds from the Shadow lake lodge crew (busy bringing back supplies for next weekend) made for nice grooming.
The snow was a bit wet but not sticky and the skiing was really nice and easy (no clumping, no snow bombs and no debris)
We went to visit the Red Earth Creek Warden cabin (Babette graciously offered to break the trail) and this is a worthy destination if you want to do a shorter ski (21km).
After huffing and puffing herringboning the steep headwall, the roller-coaster single track to Shadow lake was quite a treat.
After a quick visit to the lake (no views today) we went to the lodge and were warmly greeted by Louise and Bob, the lodge custodians and we were offered a freshly brewed cup of coffee, what a treat!
The return was fast and with good snow cover / packed trail if was a delight to ski.
I highly recommend this trail as conditions are fantastic right now!
