Absolutely stunning! Nordic skiing continues to be fantastic. Backcountry touring remains unpredictable, unfortunately. The Special Public Avalanche Warning has been extended until March 10.

Thanks Carole for the report as I had planned to do a similar outing tomorrow. Great info!

Discussion:

We parked at the Ribbon Creek parking lot. We skied up Hidden trail to Skogan Pass via Hummingbird Plume and Skogan loops. The track setting was fresh and superb! The middle of the trail was a bit soft at times. After a late lunch at Skogan Pass, we descended directly down to the Troll Falls junction. What a blast of fun! If you ski this tour, watch out for snow bombs that cause bumps in the tracks. They can be hazardous. We travelled past the Nakiska ski hill.

We did some extra skiing. The Ribbon Creek trails were not newly track set, so were a bit rough. I veered off on the Ribbon Creek trail, while George went around to meet me on Kovach. We skied Kovach, Terrace & Terrace Link. Watch for rough sections, unless you luck out with fresh grooming overnight.

George’s assessment of the outing was that it was “pleasant”.
