Looks like Calgary got a lot of snow. Great idea to toodle around the Paskapoo slopes. I love the second to last photo - magical.

Discussion:

After at least 20 cm of new snow, the last two days have offered prime opportunities for urban skiing without having to drive much (or in the case of Saturday's 12 km neighbourhood xc tour-not at all! ). This morning I waxed up the old tele setup and meandered around the convoluted network of trails in Paskapoo Slopes. In a couple of hours of enjoyable skiing- I followed trails that were well packed already by foot traffic and a fatbiker or two, broke a bit of trail, and wandered around through the aspens, even making a few turns here and there along the way. It helped to be very familiar with the network from biking there often, and to know from a ride on Thursday that almost every trail had a base of packed snow underneath the new fluff. Good times!

Nicely packed already on Beaver Fever.

The cars on Lemon Orchard, which was a lot of fun to descend at the end of my 8 or so km tour. Being wide, gently inclined and more or less straight, this is one of the few trails there that I would consider to be friendly to xc ski gear.

Putting a track in should encourage walkers to pack things down and make things better for riding.

Easy off-trail wandering.

Until it's not- things are getting a wee bit tight!

I don't know if I found enlightenment, but I did have a great run down to the trailhead!
