Looks like Banff National Park has outsourced their closure bulletins to Facebook!

Some closures of castle junction ski trails as a result (#1, 2 & 3), according to trail conditions page. News reports also indicate closure of rockbound lake trail and Silverton falls. However, no official closure bulletin posted on the BNP conditions page. One of those find out when you get there scenarios. Maybe not a good place to take the puppy currently, especially unleashed.
As to identifying the person, likely someone of small stature.

I heard that when the cougar jumped out of the tree, a badger pounced out of his den, locked its jaws on the cougar's tail, swung the cougar around his head and sent it flying into a tree trunk about 30m away!
You don't want to mess with an angry badger!
Man fends off cougar in BNP! Anybody we know?

The story I heard was it jumped out of a tree, he grabbed it by the scruff of the neck and threw it to the ground.
Came away with only scratches.
