Thanks for the route suggestion MaSid. We will definitely add this option to our upcoming meadow traverse day. Hope to see you on the trails again soon.

So that was you guys I chatted with in the parking lot at the end of the day! See you in the trails some time soon. Happy to have others improve the meadow trails with travel. So thank you in advance. It’s unfortunate you didn’t try the Patterson meadow track. It would have worked fine for your skis today and enters Patterson trail not far from the top. In that direction it provides some different views. Or add it to your next sunny day on the touring skis (if doing the traverse, go through the Patterson meadows first, hard to spot flagging, and a track of course).

We let the lure of fresh grooming determine our ski route today. Thanks so much groomers for the great work last night! Someone(MaSid) beat us to the trailhead at Elk Pass this morning - it was clear we were following someone on touring skis versus our track skis. A fresh dusting of snow set up silky trail conditions. By the time we were ascending Blueberry Hill even the corduroy was sparkling as blue skies opened up and sunbeams danced on the fresh snow. By the top of Blueberry, trees greeted us, magnificently coated with frost. It appeared that a lynx had also enjoyed using the ski trail on the way up to Blueberry. We ate our snacks enjoying the view. No wind today, just wonderful sunshine before heading back down (15minutes to junction) - snow let us go fast enough but no record times today. Up to Elk Pass and then decided we needed to enjoy the powdery coating of snow on the BC side, so skied down, happy to find that the person on touring ski had skied the meadow traverse setting up a marvelous trail to enjoy with our touring gear on upcoming blue sky days. Thanks MaSid. Turned around at the intersecting trail and headed back by way of Patterson - where we got to be the first ones on the upper section of this trail (1:45pm). A really splendid day with wonderful trails, beautiful views, and pockets of warm sunshine!

Fresh trails

Sunshine starting to come out as we approached the top of Blueberry.

What a day!

The incredible trees today draped in frost (at the top of Blueberry)

Heading into BC for a bit more of a ski and adventure

Sunshine continues as we headed back to Alberta

Back down Patterson near the end of the day
