Yo 13th Troll,
There can be some nice high speed skiing on the old river bed in your photo. I use to pull a lot of trout out of there at one time on the fly rod. Most of the time they just snapped my 8lb test line like it did not exist.
Don't be fooled by discriminating term of Black Bear Escarpment. Grizzlies roam there once in a blue moon too.

Good enough snow to ski in the city - so we toured the Weaselhead flats. Just a little into the Green when we set out but selected SWIX Blue V40 since the sun was out and temperatures would rise - worked perfectly. Encountered some slush under then new snow on the river crossings - always wise to have a scrapper handy: slush + cold snow = serious icing.
Skier-set tracks on multi-use trails... lots of walkers, snow-shoes, fat bikes, deer and coyotes using these routes. A great day... looking forward to many more this season.
