Discussion:

I can't believe this is only the first time I've done this loop this season! It was 5 deg. when I started at around 0830. I think this is the first time I've done this lollipop loop where I've had great track setting the whole way. All trails were beautifully double trackset. I was worried the trails would be icy, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Trails were soft enough for grip, while being hard enough to maintain their structure and not stick. Thoroughly enjoyed the outing.

I was using my skin skies with the adjustable bindings. Bindings set full forward for max grip (+2) to start, and then back to neutral (0) when I got to the Whiskey Jack/Pocaterra junction for the trip back. The combination worked out perfectly, with just the right amount of grip each way.

Temperature was +3 when I got back to the car around noon, and about 10 cars in the parking lot. Talking with a worker bee, he was saying Pocaterra parking lot was packed to overflowing this weekend.

Rain/snow between Fortress and Nakiska.

Pocaterra, Lynx, Amos, and Wheeler all have a solid trails with a fair amount of needles (needlage?), but with skin skies it really wasn't a problem.

Whiskey Jack was much cleaner, as was Pocaterra from the Whiskey Jack junction to the Packers junction.

One of the culprits responsible for leaving holes in the tracksetting near the Pocaterra Hut.
