We started at Goat Creek Trailhead by 10:00 am at -8C. The previous day's tracksetting was covered with 5cm fresh, light snow. One skier was ahead of us breaking trail. Skiing down in the fluffy powder was surprisingly fast. Nice to meet Chuck and Jeannette at the "bus" shelter, were we turned around. Had less grip in the soft track on the return; lots of snow avalanches blowing off the trees. Just 1km from the trailhead we ran into the first snow shoers, who stayed off the ski track. Its winter wonderland out there!

Great photo of you Ulrike, and the snow!

We were well behind you leaving Goat Creek, but were able to "catch" the first snowshoer, who was tromping along the ski track right out of the parking lot, and asked him to stay to the side, which he did after that. Of course, there are a few places between the TH and the park boundary where it is difficult to keep off the track.
