Discussion:
My goal for today was the Fire Lookout at PLPP.
I was glad to finally get away from the -26 degree temperature in Calgary! As I approached Kananaskis Village, I gleefully watched my outside thermometer rise, and as I passed Evan Thomas the temperature was way up to -13. Still sounds cold, doesn't it?
Nordic Pulse informed me that both northern & southern routes to the fire lookout were trackset on January 3rd. I chose the southern route, via Hydroline trail. Due to some snowfall over the past few days I found the tracks on Lookout trail to be almost completely covered. This, plus a steep approach made for a challenging (but fun) day.
I only saw two other skiers the entire time.
