Having read a not-so-recent report on track-setting at Bowness Park, I decided to give it a try this morning. It was a fresh -19 at the start, but full sun and no wind made for pretty pleasant conditions. I have to commend the Parks people for the effort they've made, especially given the dearth of white stuff in the city.

I used my old Peltonen fishscales and they were fine. I'm sure that skinny sticks would work as well.

Oh, if your hands don't like the cold and yet you want to stay strapped in to your poles, I can really recommend Auclair's overmitts. I got mine at Norseman. Even at -26 last year, Auclair ski gloves with these as protection kept me very comfortable.
