Discussion:

It was -14 at the Cascade trailhead when we started out just after 11am, and there was some fresh snow on the trail from last night. Despite the cold temperatures and the fresh snow, the tracks (which had been cleared by those who had started before us) were fast and glidey for our wax skis (green worked perfectly today). It was clear that yesterday's grooming ended at the bridge/campground…beyond there it was super snowy and it truly felt like we were skiing through a wonderland (with slightly slower tracks than the top half but still surprisingly glidey). We went just beyond the 10km mark, ate lunch while it was snowing heavily, then headed back (the snowfall was isolated to that side of the hill). Easy ski down the big hill and then back to the car (sadly) at around -12 at around 2pm. Everyone we passed was in heaven on this magical day!
