Discussion:

I ventured out to Shark this morning, knowing that all the trails were groomed the day before. I love to ski there every spring, and this was my chance. I arrived around 10:15 to 1 cm of fresh snow over the grooming, and 4C. I had de-icer treatment on my fish scales and was confident that the new snow would not cause problems, and it didn’t. Predictably, it was slow, but actually very pleasant skiing. I skied the Watridge Lake trail all the way to the Spray River, and included a detour to Watridge Lake on the return. The hills down to the river and lake were both very easy to deal with in both directions. Only limited herringbone was required in spots, as the grip was super. As always, the views down at the river bridge were simply spectacular. It was plus 6C when I returned. It was a fantastic day, despite the road from Canmore being really rough in spots. I think it will be decent tomorrow.
