After we had to kibosh our ski at Kicking Horse Trail due to the tracks being solid ice, we decided to give Fairview another shot (we'd skied there Monday). We got to the trailhead in the upper Lake Louise parking lot around 1300 with partially cloudy skies and a temperature of -3. Though the trail still hadn't been groomed (not much love given to Fairview this year), the tracks were just fine - skier trackset in old machine tracks. Lots of fluffy snow around, with very few snowbombs in the tracks.

With the sub zero temperature, the grip in the snow was great (skin and waxless skis), but towards the end of the day, those areas that had been hit by a lot of sun were starting to glaze over. That being said, conditions were really good, and will probably remain so 'til it gets really warm with strong sun.

We also did the major part of the climb on Moraine - the conditions were just about perfect (lovely fresh trackset), but the areas being hit hard by the sun were soft and crunchy. I'd kinda expect them to glaze over a bit in colder temperatures.
