Kicking Horse Trail - Nope

Discussion:

Our original intention was to ski the Kicking Horse Trail in Yoho. We'd been on the Alluvial Fan Trail the day before, and the snow was wet and soft with temperatures well above freezing then. That night the temperature dropped below freezing, so all the nice soft crunchy snow became rock hard. That happened at the Kicking Horse Trail, too. We got to the trailhead around noon, hoping it had warmed up enough to soften the snow. Nope. The tracks were solid ice, as was the snow around them, so we decided on Plan B - Fairview.
