The theme of today was slow. Slow drive up, slow climb up Whiskey Jack and then Tyrwhitt to the top of Elk Pass, and marginally faster but still quite slow back the way I came. But it gave me more time to enjoy the scenery! It was -16° when I began at around 10:15, and there were a good 3 to 4 cms of new snow in the brand new tracks. I set the track the whole way, and only met other human beings about 1.5 km from the end. It was snowing while I was climbing, but by the time I was coming back on Tyrwhitt the sun came out for some meadow sparkliness. The way back was definitely faster because I was able to use the tracks that I had set, and I actually got a bit of glide. All of the downhills were extremely easy and enjoyable today. My car said -6° when I got back to Boulton at 1:30, although I think it was a bit colder because once I started driving it quickly dropped to -14°. My fish scales did a great job, although I’m sure wax would have been easy today as well. It was great to see so much fresh new snow, even if it meant to setting the track all day! 😃🥵

Total distance: 18.00 Km
