Snowshoes work too

But we prefer to ski

Icefalls at the end of the lake is a great destination

Or enjoy a picnic by the island

Hi JoLynn,
Yes, Boom Lake is in a beautiful setting.
Turn south from the TCH onto Highway 93 at Castle Junction, and the trailhead is only about 1 km beyond Storm Mountain Lodge which is at the top of the first hill.
Note that the trail is heavily used by snowshoers, and that can be a positive thing as it packs the base.
Normally snowshoers do not go down the lake (they stop at the first sight of the lake) but the real treat is for skiers who travel down to the icefalls at the end of the lake.
