Discussion:

I skied a couple of loops today.

Loop 1: West Crystal / Loggers / entire network south of Sundog including Dead End and Elbow trail to Fullerton / Sundog West. Dead End does not show up as groomed on Nordic Pulse but it has been and is in really good condition. Elbow trail from Fullerton was groomed today and was excellent. No walkers had been on the trail beyond the Fullerton loop turnoff. The rest of the trails (Iron Springs - Elbow figure 8, Loggers, Sundog West) were really good, particularly the south Iron Springs - Elbow loop which does not see a lot of traffic. There were a lot of people out there (for a week day) so the track set is getting a bit wobbly but the snow is great.

Loop 2: West Crystal (upper)/ Moose (north) / Mountain Views / West Crystal (lower). This area was groomed a couple of days ago and is still in really good condition.

Total distance: 36.50 Km

"Dead End" is not the name of the trail that extends west from the sharp corner on Iron Springs. The name of the trail is Iron Creek and it is part of the Trans-Canada Trail. The trails are correctly named on the junction trail maps.

Thanks very much for pointing that out, Alf. I found it interesting to hear that Iron Creek is part of the Trans-Canada Trail.

A quick Google search indicates that to date, nearly 27,000 kilometers of the Trail are operational. Four out of five Canadians live within 30 minutes of the Trail.

And to follow-up on an earlier comment by Mr. Democracy about women achieving great feats, I've also included a link about Dianne Whelan, who became the first person to complete the TC trail.
