The January snow drought finally ended at West Bragg Creek. By mid-afternoon, there was 15 cm of new snow on the ground and it was still snowing. Most of the trails had been roller packed, including the Elbow and Iron Springs trails from the Fullerton parking lot. So, we started from Fullerton and did a figure 8 loop of Elbow-Iron Springs-Elbow-Iron Springs.
None of the trails have been track set, because the new snow needs a some time to firm up, after getting roller packed. The initial snow was moist and bonded well to the old snow, which was still warm from yesterdays +10C temps. But, the temperature dropped in the afternoon and the snow got colder and fluffier.
It was wonderful to be sliding on soft, silent snow in full-on winter conditions.
