Discussion:

The Cascade River Trail was fast and somewhat icy in sun exposed areas until I climbed up the trail to somewhere around the 250 foot elevation level above the road. There was low moderate to moderate levels of debris on the trail which slowed the skis down in a few sections. A few areas the debris on the trail was heavy where squirrels were eating a lot of cone seeds in the trees. The trail could use a centimeter of new wet snow to hide the majority of debris. It still was fast and fun technical skiing requiring skiing technique adjustments on different types of variable snow to maintain speed.

At the warden cabin in the afternoon the temperature was +4c.

Beyond Stoney Creek there is a well used multi species tracked skier trail to Elk Trap. About 1 km beyond Elk trap the trail breaking was somewhat easy to moderate difficulty following an old wolf/ lynx trail. I came within about 2.5 km of Cuthead Warden Cabin when the lighting was getting somewhat dark.

At the Stoney Warden at about 9:15 pm at night the temperature was -1c with the odd snow flake falling.

Total distance: 45.00 Km
