Discussion:

I skied a couple of loops at WBC today. It is still possible to have a pleasant ski in that area. There were very few people out. On Elbow-Iron Springs I encountered more hikers than skiers.

Loop 1: West Crystal / East Mountain View / upper Mountain Road / West Mountain View / South Moose / lower Mountain Road.
The core area was groomed 2 days ago. It is holding up reasonably well. East Mountain view heading west down the steep hill is marginal. West Mountain View and Moose were surprising decent but fast (in the morning before it got pretty warm). The S turn on south Moose into the meadows is pretty thin but there is a sign warning of marginal conditions. I went up that way, so no problem. Lower Mountain Road has a few really thin areas in the particularly sunny areas. Upper Mountain Road is good.

Loop 2: West Crystal / Loggers / Elbow-Iron Springs north loop / East Sundog and Crystal. The core area parts (not Elbow-Iron Springs) were good. Even Elbow-Iron Springs had lots of good parts but some places such as the sunny bits of Iron Springs in the meadow are getting really thin. There is a fair bit of needle/tree debris in places on Elbow. The only steep hill that was marginal (icy) was the big hill on Elbow from the col heading north.

I was skiing on metal edged waxless skis. Most of the steep hills would be fine with regular skis except for the aforementioned East Mountain View and Elbow hills. Conditions will be fast tomorrow morning but likely soften up later.
