You've already read the excellent report from John A regarding the Great Divide so I'll add a few photos. It was great to see some of the "regulars" on the trail today including Helen and Keith. It was -16 when I started out from the Lake O'Hara parking lot but it warmed up to -10 by the time I got back. I used green wax with good results. It was snowing lightly near the parking lot as I returned.
The iconic arch which denotes the AB/BC border is 2.8K from the Lake O'Hara end, or 7.3K from the Lake Louise end.
The Fairview trail was snowmobile packed from the north end(at the lake parking lot). I don't know for how far. It's usually very rough with open water in early season and I would not recommend skiing it.
The trail crew will start snowmobile packing the Pipestone trails tomorrow(Friday). Let them do their work unimpeded and stay away for now.
Heather has just entered BC
The entire trail was trackset yesterday(Wednesday)

Keith stands guard while others have lunch at the shelter
Should we go down the hill? It's about 700 metres in distance with a 40 metre elevation drop
Serious snow depth at the picnic table
