Canmore Nordic - a mixed bag

After 8 days of blue skies and sunshine, and pm temps often reaching +8C or so, I was wondering how CNC would be. We started skiing at 9:30am to -7C, and headed west on the fresh tracksetting of Banff Trail. Until we reached the warming hut, the tracks were often shallow and icy, with the skating lane looking much more inviting. We then skied Meadowview to the west end - older tracks (firm, icy, fast). We returned on Banff Trail (new tracks, decent depth) to the warming hut where we enjoyed lunch outside in the sunshine. Chatted with a couple from Idaho who were enjoying our wonderful country. The return to the stadium area was again on often thin tracks, but a bit better now as many others had skied them. Generally, skaters had much better conditions than track skiers.
